We chose this cruise because we wanted to visit France and we wanted to experience river cruising as opposed to ocean cruising. And in checking with friends and others Viking was highly recommended. Because the Seine was experiencing high water levels, then changes had to be made to the cruise schedule and while Viking knew this several days in advance of our departure from Canada, we were not given any options for rescheduling our trip or refunding our money. While the staff of the Rolf made every effort to make our trip enjoyable, we certainly expected that Viking cruises would make a generous offer to compensate for our disappointment. Not so, we have been offered a 20% voucher for another cruise which MUST be used within one year. As seniors, we save for at least 2 years to take a major holiday like this (those that cost in excess of $10,000!!) so virtually they have offered us nothing. We shared this in an email with their Customer Relations department and have received no satisfaction and were told basically to take it or leave it!! And apparently there is no one with more authority than a customer relations officer to whom we can appeal; hard to believe for such a huge corporation!

Needless to say, Viking will not be considered when we plan for future holiday nor would we ever recommend them to family or friends.
