we chose this cruise because we had already done Amsterdam to Budapest (twice) plus a few of Scenics other river cruises and wanted to see something different, different it was. We spent a pre night in Zurich at the Schweizerhof Hotel a very nice hotel, from here we taken by coach the following day to Basel to board the ship, as usual the meet and great was great with a cool drink and a rose for the ladies.

If you cobblestone streets and beautiful old towns you'll love this tour, Colmar, Cochem, Maastrict, Antwerp and of course who doesn't love Rudesheim and the famous coffee. Of course there were many other places that name escape me. There also many excursions offered all included in the price, including Luxemberg, Heidelburg also Airborne Museum which is dedicated to the Battle of Arnhem in 1944, I had never heard of this battle so found it so very informative.

The crew aboard the Scenic Opal were fabulous nothing was to much trouble, the food was near perfect thanks to Chef Walter, Cruise Director Patrik who did a wonderful job, always on hand if you needed to speak to him and his Port Talks which we had every night were a great way of letting us all know what was happening the next day.
