Despite the fact that we were not able to cruise at all (by order of the French government), we had a wonderful time. All of the crew and staff did an excellent job of reacting to the situation. We never missed one excursion - it just took a longer time to get places having to use busses for everything and the bus rides were longer because of not being able to cruise to the next ports. Basically we had a "floating" - but not moving - hotel/restaurant. The "ship swap" went smoothly and having two women from the Delling come with us, made it very comfortable. All of the meals were excellent, the activities planned on the boat were interesting and fun. We did the three day extension in Paris and were very impressed with all the support we had from Viking staff in the hotel, the train stations, and at the airport. We will definitely travel with Viking again.
Except for when we were docked right next to another boat (because of boats being held in ports) and couldn't enjoy the view, our cabin was very nice. One night there was a shorter ship docked next to us that had very loud engine/generator noise. This was quite disturbing.
Avignon was a delightful, historic town to visit. We enjoyed both the guided tour and our own meanderings along the streets.
