I went on this cruise to help celebrate my brother and sister-in-law's 50th wedding anniversary. It was a delightful time with many family memories being remembered and made. The food on the ship was fantastic. Because of the nature of this particular cruise we did not eat in any other restaurants. We did eat one night at a chateau but amazingly the ship's crew brought everything from the ship (linens, china, glassware, food, etc.) to the chateau and prepared and served a superb dinner for us that night. We enjoyed the town tours of all the medieval villages, learning a tremendous amount of history as we enjoyed the sights. The tour guides were very knowledgable. We traveled when Air France pilots were going on strike. Viking did a great job getting our itineraries changed and keeping us in the loop as to what was happening. Our embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly. Viking staff were there at every step of the journey to help us.
The ship was small compared to the huge ocean liners, but it was well appointed and easy to get around. The cabins were not luxurious but very nice with plenty of storage drawers and ample closet space. We are planning to take a cruise next May on one of Viking's ocean-going ships to the Baltic. We are looking forward to another wonderful trip!
Cabin was clean and efficient. Because of the rainy, cool weather we did not get the opportunity to use the Veranda very much.
The night walking trip was very interesting. The World Cup was being played in Bordeaux and it was fun to see the fans.
