A recent trip on a Viking river cruise was our first experience cruising, river or ocean. i decided to book an European cruise as I was very busy at work and wanted to just push the "easy button" for a nice trip. Viking longship was the perfect choice.

The ship was beautiful and the stateroom was well thought out and didn't lack for anything that we needed. The public areas were roomy with a lovely dining room on one level and a lounge/bar on the next level. The top deck had chaises, some under cover and a walking track. It was fun to go up top and watch the river views and the occasional transit through a lock.

What impressed me the most was how well organized the entire trip was. From the moment we showed up at the dock in Amsterdam, a Viking representative let us drop off luggage and invited us to have lunch on the Aquavit Terrace. Our stateroom was ready by the time our lunch was finished. No waiting in line, no hassles at all. Disembarkation was just as easy. We had our luggage outside our door by 9am and Viking staff did the rest.

French Balcony

Plenty of room for a week's worth of clothes with closet and a few drawers. There was also a mini fridge. The bathroom certainly wasn't big, but we didn't have any problems as there were a few shelves. A nice touch was the 110v outlets for the North Americans. The only downside was the spotty internet service which is to be expected on a ship.
