We went on this cruise with friends who suggested a Baltic Cruise. We had never been in the area and it sounded like a great idea. They suggested,Norwegian Cruise Line because they, had been on the line in the past. We like smaller, 6 star ships but we finally agreed. We booked a mini suite and it is really small. I can't imagine a regular room. Getting into the closet is an adventure as it is right next to the bed. The beds are the most uncomfortable you may ever sleep in. There is no light in the closet.
The ship is nice and cruises along very smoothly. The captain gives lots of announcements but you never see him which is fine, The restaurants are pretty terrible. Selections are limited and portions are small. There is no late night party and only one restaurant is open all night. Quality of food is barely acceptable. The buffets are disgusting, think your college cafeteria with adults having no manners looking like they are having their last meal.,I think that is a big difference with a 6 star ship, the people. I thought the price of liquor was too expensive. They were selling Vieve for $9.00'for a 3 ounce glass or $95 for a bottle. You can get it for that price in any restaurant. It should be cheaper on the sea. I think the waitstaff and hostesses were generally rude with few exceptions. They were in some instances verbally fresh which I don't tolerate. Others just smile but don't converse.
All in all, it was not a good cruising experience. Like with everything else, you get what you pay for. If you have a limited budget, don't mind ordinary food, don't care about service o r room size then Norwegian will be fine for you. If you like, great, food, service, good sized room, nice people, then go you need a 6 star ship.
