We went on this cruise for our 40th anniversary. We had seen what we considered a really good deal on one of the websites which included prepaid gratuities, a classic drink package, and $450 on board credit. I would say that the ship was absolutely wonderful. We had 2700 passengers and 1500 crew and it never seemed crowded (except in the theater occasionally). There are so many public areas spread around the ship that you can always find a place to relax and be alone (well, maybe not alone).
We ate most dinners in the dining room. The service was great! The food was inconsistent, They were able to cook steaks exactly the way I like them (medium rare) every single time and several of the meals were excellent, but several did not live up to the description in the menu.. I also happen to like spicy food--not necessarily "hot"--just with spices added. The food seemed somewhat bland. My waiter offered to bring me hot sauce or Tabasco, but adding hot sauce at the table was not what I had in mind. We also ate one night at Murano and one night at Silk Harvest.The food and service was excellent at both restaurants.
As for entertainment: that was inconsistent too. 2 of the shows that had guest entertainers were very good, but a couple of the guest entertainers were very mediocre and one was just plain terrible. The productions put on by the singers and dancers are not for us, but they are talented.
Cabin Review
Deluxe Veranda 1B
Our cabin was very typical of cruise ship cabins. Positive points: Adequate space for clothing, very comfortable bed, curved bed corners to avoid tripping over end of bed, nice shower, very sound proof, loved the veranda. Also, the position of the cabin, i.e., forward starboard, was a very quiet area. There was nothing above or below us except other cabins and the only public area on that deck was the card room.
Things that could have been better: The first thing I noticed were the drapes. They were very wrinkled, torn in one place with worn tie backs. Hardly what you would expect of a first class ship. That being said, I reported this and they immediately changed the drapes. The other thing is the couch. It's covered in plastic (very practical) and as hard as a rock. Now I know you don't spend a lot of time on the couch, but when you do sit down, you would like a comfortable place to relax.
