Although Breakfast was better than average, lunch and dinner were not. Most of the food, although presented very well, was bland and not seasoned well. I had soup with every lunch and dinner, and of the 14 days, the soup was tasteless on all but 2 occasions. Desserts, beer and wine were very good. We would have expected a better selection of entrees @ Dinner, where the portion size was very small. More premium dinner selections such as Steak, Lobster, Shrimp, Prime Rib, Veal, etc., were not included, with a few exceptions, and I would classify the food as "peasant food". They did have a "Rump Steak" on the menu each night, but it was tough and had no taste.

The dining room staff was very attentive and professional, and they could not have been better.

Our flight to Amsterdam arrived @ 7:15am and we were transferred to the ship by 8:45am. We were told that the cabin wasn't ready, but that they were working to get it ready. The truth of the matter was that no matter what time passengers arrived, no one was able to get to their cabins until 2:00pm. This was after more than 24 hours of travelling for us. We would have made arrangements to travel a day earlier and stay in a hotel the 1st night before boarding the ship if we had known this at the time we booked the cruise.

Cabin Review

Cabin Panorama Balcony Suite

The cabin was more than adequate and comfortable, and I especially liked the indoor balcony with the window that opened. However, it was extremely frustrating when we docked @ certain ports and found that we were sandwiched between 2 other ships, and therefore had no view of anything except the cabin next to us on the other ship. I would not have paid a premium price for this cabin if I had been aware that this was going to happen. Also, it was not emphasized that we would be spending so much time in the many, many locks, which again eliminated the view from the cabin. The cabin steward did an excellent job maintaining the cabin and was very attentive to our needs.
