This cruise was chosen because it was started in Alsace-Lorraine. However due to high water issues, the optional tour was canceled much to my disappointment. However, Viking did all they could to see that our cruise was enjoyable. They were most accommodating due to the unforeseen problems. Everything was first rate. When we arrived our ship couldn't dock in Basel, so we were taken to a 5 star hotel for dinner and overnight. We then were able to join our ship in Mannheim.

The room as well as the entire ship was immaculately clean and comfortable. The food and service was excellent. The land excursions were nicely paced for the seniors.

The only disappointment I had was the flight from the USA. It wasn't the most direct route to Basel from Paris, it went to Amsterdam and then to Basel making this a very long tiring journey. Other than that I had a wonderful time.
