Traveling the Rhine and Mosel river valleys with Avalon fulfilled everything on our bucket list! We expected great service and they delivered that with many smiles. We were surprised with an optional tour inside a windmill in Amsterdam as we waited to board our ship in a quiet hotel lounge. Our cabin still makes me smile--luxury, a great mattress and a superb view! The food choices were so varied that we want to do it all over again just to try to sample what we missed. We could have been content just to sip our drinks and watch the scenery glide by, but the excursions called to us. If you enjoy wine, DON'T MISS THE WINE TASTING in BERNKASTEL! So many bottles, so little time... Of course, the Roman history tour in Trier was a highlight for us. It was amazing to touch walls built 2000 years ago. We really enjoyed the quaint little German villages, all with narrow cobblestone streets and quaint building facades and street cafes. And then there was Paris! We wore ourselves out trying to see all the sites; the excursion to the Palace of Versailles was the highlight, with all the gilding and baroque décor. We are still smiling at the memories, weeks later. We would love to take another Avalon cruise!
