Why I choose Viking: Good comments for other people and online research.

I was very disappointed that the cruise line did not report that there was high water upriver, thus for half of our cruise it was not a cruise at all. We toured by bus for the first three days or a six night trip. The cruise line sent an email out while we were already over the Atlantic on our way to the ship. I spoke to the cruise director and she reported knowing about the issue one-week in advance. I had diligently monitored the cruise line web site and weather reports to determine river level. I felt very deceived by Viking, that they did not forewarn us of the situation and appropriately set our expectations in advance. This is a expensive trip that we planned for years. The daily excursions were cut significantly short due to the long travel times to get there via bus (90-120 minutes one-way).

The ship was only a year old so it was in excellent condition. The crew for the most part we very good.

Cabin Review

Veranda Stateroom

Cabin B

Very nice cabin. As described in literature and online information. Ship was only a year old, so it was in excellent condition. We did not have towels the first night; seriously, for the cost of this trip they could not ensure there were towels in the stateroom.
