Avalon Artistry II Cruise Review by Paddler60
- Sail Date: September 2016
- Destination: Europe
- Cabin Type: Outside Stateroom with French Balcony
Embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly. The ship was modern and very well maintained. Our cabin was much larger than we anticipated having been on several ocean cruises, it was exceptionally comfortable. The overall dinning experience was good. The food was tasty and we felt full, but not uncomfortably stuffed. The dinning service improved each day. We thought that the breakfast buffet was a bit crowded due to the set-up area, there just wasn't much room to maneuver around people.
The evening entertainers were entertaining, but we enjoyed the crew show more than anything. They really went out of their way to have a good time. We truly enjoyed the happy hour option every evening. Although prices were within a reasonable range, the happy hour prices rocked! It would be nice if happy hour actually lasted more than an hour.
TIPS - this is the only thing that annoyed us. Considering what we paid for the cruise we truly feel that the gratuity should have been included. If a crew member went above and beyond, we should have the options of paying extra.
No children join us on the cruise and their were no children on board...thank goodness!
We definitely plan on river cruising again and with Avalon if the company offers the locations we're wanting to visit.
