My mother, at the age of 89, said she always wanted to see France. After several days in Paris, we travelled south with our tour group by fast rail to Dijon, then by motor coach to board our river boat, Poetry II. We were greeted with drinks and discussion by our cruise director and staff. At our room we found our luggage already waiting for us, as well as fruit, wine and other delightful edibles. Our stateroom had floor to ceiling, wall-to-wall view of the countryside and cities along the river. All meals offerd a variety of food, all very fresh, and included wine and other beverages. The waitstaff was unfailingly attentive. In the evening we enjoyed live musical entertainment of different kinds from local performers. Other activites included discussions regarding French history and culture, all illuminating and fun. The port and shore excurions were well run, with very charming and informative guides. (No children were on this cruise). I would definitely travel this way again and recommend it to others.
Total river view. Always clean. Comfortable beds. Very accommodating bathroom including good lighting, good water pressure, good use of space for personal items, nice supply of complimentary toiletries.
