Could not believe how bad this cruise was. First the positive: great enrichment speakers, cabin steward and waiters at 5:30 seating were very good. While the TV did not have as many stations or screen qualiy as the Royal Princess (3 cruises in the last two years), the TV had a sleep timer on it while the Royal did not (Princess customer service was not aware that their new ships do not have sleep timers on the TVs.

Paid Princess to stay at Marriot LAX the night before. Parked car for 3 hours before returning it, automatic $31. charge. Meeting in lobby the next day was crowded, confused and Princess rep had bad attitude. The way some people acted, I don't blame her but...... In 2015, before world cruise we did the same with no issues. I believe this was due to the type of people that took this cruise (more on this later). Embarkation was late, even for Elite. Once on board all OK.

3rd night on way to Hawaii, did Crab Shack. Bad, Bad, Bad. I could not believe how terrible, small and overcooked the crab, corn, shrimp and potatos were cooked. Other noted was same and many stopped going. I guess part of the disappointment was that we had dinner at Captain Jacks in Sunset Beach before the cruise. There could be no comparison. We had two dinners at the Crown Grill which was worth the price. Over the past 15 years, even the regular dining room food quality has gone down. In the past if you did not like the offering for that evening, you could always chose from the left side, Medallions of Beef, now no long, just meatloaf.

First time paid for the upgrade to a mini suite. Liked the two TVs and parlor area. However, as with the other Princess ships, if you heard an announcement out in the hall, you had to run and change the channel to the announcement station. By the time you got to change the channel, the announcement was over. We overcame this with two TVs, one was always on the announcement channel.

Port Reviews

Los Angeles

no excursion however hotel to ship transfer disorganized

Honolulu

Again, been here before, went and had lunch at the Honolulu Elks. If you are an Elk and have been to Honolulu before, go there. It is super.

However, last year, we took the Pearl Harbor War tour and museum It was the best ever, run by a small family with their own super museum. I bought their own DVD which is the most outstanding video regarding what happened all over the island on 12/7

Maui

Tendered in Lahina. Take the general historic walking tour. Did this 8 years ago and thus I was able to take my new mate on our own. Did get crowded. Read up on port before if you want to go on your own. any other trip would be too long and you would not get the benefit of how Maui was first inhabited.
