Avalon Imagery II Cruise Review by WCH3
- Sail Date: November 2016
- Destination: Europe River
- Cabin Type: Outside Stateroom with French Balcony
We started the week with an excursion prior to boarding the ship & we went on at least one excursion at every port. Getting on & off the ship was very easy, even in the rain when crew members met you at the bus with umbrellas to make sure you stayed dry. We loved the variety of excursions, the knowledge of our cruise director & the excellent guides that made it easy to enjoy everywhere we visited.
Our cabin was very nice - LOVE the floor to ceiling, wall to wall window at the foot of the bed that allowed you to wake up to the river flowing by while cruising, if you so desired. The bathroom was very nice, with plenty of room & thoughtful under cabinet lighting for middle of the night visits. The towels were soft & absorbent, with 2 different colors so you knew which one was yours vs. your hubby's or roomy's.
The food was excellent & the staff was exemplary, remembering your name & your favorite items, spoiling you by having it for you before you even asked!! They even did a crew variety show for us one night while we were sailing, keeping us entertained & laughing.
The lounge areas were a favorite of almost everyone on the ship. We met so many new friends there, from all over the world. Everyone was so relaxed & friendly.
I don't think this would be a good trip for children as there weren't any "kid activities", there wasn't even a pool on board. But it's definitely an excellent idea for any adult that wants to relax, learn about & see history & beautiful architecture & cathedrals & be completely spoiled by the ship's crew. We would definitely go on another river cruise - no doubt about it.
