We decided to opt for the cruise as we wanted to sail into Boston & New York.
Boarding at Southampton was straightforward, the staff friendly and helpful.
We chose a Junior suite on deck 9, and have no complaints about the state of the room and our SRA, Roberto "Bobby" Orr was an excellent attendant. His friend Greg Taylor, although not in our section, was also very pleasant and both engaged in conversation whenever they met us. Bobby knew that we were early risers, so our room was always cleaned by the time we returned from breakfast.
Bobby did an excellent job in maintaining our JS, always smiling & upbeat. He was a pleasure to talk with, very sensible & efficient. We enjoy the space of a JS & larger balcony. The high backed recliner chairs were a bonus, as it meant we could actually lie flat, even although we did not have loungers on this balcony.
Having a large walk in wardrobe is always welcome, meaning we have ample storage without having to pile clothes on top of each other, thus saving on creases in garments.
The kettle & coffee maker were used on a daily basis, which meant we could enjoy an early morning cup in the comfort of our room. Bobby, always ensured the items were replenished, including decaf coffee.
Didn't have much time here due to the debacle for immigration clearance on board, but what we did see was worthwhile.
Subway required to get to Ground Zero, walking there impossible. Exploring NYC on foot was a worthwhile experience. Hope to go back for a longer stay in the future.
Stayed here the day & night prior to embarking. Old town good to walk around. A huge Christmas market is being put in place, so the atmosphere was good.
