After Carnival announced changes to itineraries on the Liberty out of Galveston we started watching prices. The cruise we took went from sold out to wide open in a matter of days and we were able to pick up an 8E cabin on Lido deck for a great price. The cruise we chose had an overnight in Cozumel, which was the deciding factor in taking this cruise.

I am Diamond and my husband is Platinum, so it was OK that the earliest check in time available when we booked was noon. We arrived at the terminal at 11:10am. There was no line to have passports scanned, no security line and no one ahead of us at VIP check in. We barely had time to sit down when they called for us to board at 11:20. We went straight to our cabin, which was ready, and put away the carry on bags.

We had cabin 9289 on Lido deck. The cabin is the next to last on on the starboard side before you go out the doors to the Lido. It was super convenient, but when the hallway door was left open, as was often the case, we heard the music and partying on the Lido in our cabin. Several times late at night I got out of bed and went down to shut the door so we could sleep. We also heard all the music, movies etc. while sitting on the balcony. While the cabin was certainly convenient, we would choose a location further away from the pool area in the future.

Cabin 8E

Starboard side close to the exit to the pool area. Noisy during deck parties and while the DJ plays in the afternoons. Very convenient to the Lido.

Port Reviews

Galveston

We find embarkation and debarkation in Galveston to be easy. Just make sure you have a passport and get a porter and then you will spend very little time in line at debarkation.

Cozumel

Cozumel is one of our favorite ports. This cruise overnighted in Cozumel so we had time to go downtown for dinner the first evening and then spend time at the beach on the second day. As usual, we went to Mr. Sanchos. We pre-booked the all inclusive experience. The food and service were great as usual.
