Our second cruise on Ama Waterways. We were excited that we were sailing on a relatively new ship, as our last one, the AmaBella has been retired. I would liked to have given the cruise a "5" as most aspects of the cruise was outstanding. HOWEVER, the new ship has some deficiencies that unless corrected we will not sail on it again.
It seems in an effort to have more cabins, the company decided to cut down on public spaces, especially the dining room. There are no tables for two available, only group seating with four or more people. We take a cruise to spend time with one another to get away from our professions and I am resentful of being forced to share dinner time with someone other than my spouse. The Maitre'D should not have to go to extraordinary efforts to accommodate "tables for two".
The second major flaw is that a newly commissioned21st century boat still has 20th century internet connectivity. Apparently the company chose to go with a cell based internet connection instead of satellite. Unfortunately, approximately 50 % of the time there was no internet connection. Because there were many gaps in cell phone reception, it was necessary to go into the various towns on our stops to communicate with the office. It was an incredibly poor situation. Yes, I was on vacation but I still needed a daily data feed from the office.
Cabin was comfortable and no suggestions for improvement. Cabin stewards are excellent
