We chose this cruise for a few reasons: This is our 4th year traveling at Christmas, we wanted to go somewhere warm(er), the port is 2 hours from our home, and the ship was not overly large. This was definitely a good choice. We got an 8k extended balcony because hubby & I are both introverts and like to get away to ourselves. This also proved to be a good choice. We found a good variety of food available in the buffet and dined there for most meals. We also dined in David's Steakhouse and Bonsai Sushi and enjoyed them and found them to be a good value, as well. We were only a little surprised to be disappointed at the quality of the entertainment. My hubby is a musician and we enjoyed listening to Michael, but thought the other guitarist was too reliant on his recordings and ipad. We also were disappointed in the comedians. We only attended 2 shows (one R and one PG, different comics) but found neither of them to be particularly funny, but we tend to be tough to entertain. Everyone on staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We did 2 excursions: Snuba in Nassau and kayaking in Freeport. We weren't able to enjoy the snuba excursion. Hubby was not able to get comfortable with his breathing and I was never able to get my mask to stop fogging up. We did enjoy our time in the boat in the beautiful water. We enjoyed kayaking and the private beach in Freeport very much & would definitely recommend this excursion strongly. I had read repeatedly that Freeport was not a nice port, and while the port itself is more industrial than some of the others, we found the area away from the port to be beautiful and the people to be kind and helpful. The timed arrival meant that it only took about an hour from arrival at the port to boarding the ship. Disembarkation was incredibly quick. 15 minutes after having our deck called, we were on I95 headed home.

Cabin Review

Extended Balcony

Cabin 8K

Roomy cabin & balcony. The bath, though small, was sized adequately, including the shower. We found there to be adequate closets (2 to hang garments and 1 with shelving) plus 2 small drawers and 2 deeper drawers, plus a "desk drawer" where we kept chargers, electronics, reading glasses, medicines, etc.

Port Reviews

Charleston

Charleston is a beautiful city and we found plenty to keep us interested just by wandering the streets. We did a tour of the Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon and enjoyed it. The weather was in the mid 50s and damp with 20mph winds, so not the best day for strolling the city. We also wandered through the Charleston City Market. Several talented artists display their art there, as well as Gullah Sweetgrass baskets. We're not really recreational shoppers, but enjoyed browsing.

Baltimore

I don't have a review for Baltimore. I have been to this city 3 times and find little of interest here. It is, however, INCREDIBLY convenient to cruise from, and I am very interested in sailing from here again.

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

This was my least favorite port and I would avoid it for future cruises. We did take a shuttle to Ron Jon's Surf Shop and Cocoa Beach, but it was a windy day and being from a beach area with a healthy tourist trade, found little of interest here. This port is only interesting if you want an excursion to Disney, Universal, Sea World, or Kennedy Space Center. We honeymooned here 19 years ago and visited Disney, Sea World, & Kennedy then, so had no desire to visit any of these parks on such a tight time frame.
