We chose this ship as we love sailing the QM2 and wanted to experience this ship. The Queen Victoria was a huge let down. The staff members were moody and unfriendly. They have cut corners to the point it made things uncomfortable. The breakfast buffet had one counter and only the normal things...no Eggs Benedict or extras. We did go to the dinning room for breakfast one morning and the line was out the door and the food was cold and tasteless. Our verandah stateroom was tiny and the shower so small, you had to turn the water off to soap up. This was a common complaint and not just for our stateroom. We had to repeatedly ask for a restock of toiletries and when I needed another copy of the TV guide (on ONE sheet of paper) I was asked by TWO people what I had done with the one I had!!! The ceiling above our dinning table had dead bugs in it and when I said something to the front desk, I was approached AT DINNER by a man telling me I should not complain and they could not be bugs "Because they are not moving".....Seriously!!! I can only hope that is NOT the entire Cunard fleet and just that ship. I do NOT recommend a cruise on that one!
On the other hand, the shore excursions were well planned and well worth the money. The bright spot was the Midship Bar with Lucia...aka Lola....we had a great time there and had a wonderful circle of friends and even tho the bar closed at midnight, it stayed open until we all left. The drinks were terribly overpriced however! The shops were boring, over priced, had no common things like t shirts and the employees acted bored or just ignored us completely! The food was also boring and the dinning room served the same old, same old....after this ship, we turned around and went on HAL's Oosterdam...TOTALLY different story! Skip the QV!
Tiny, cramped, shower so small you had to turn off water to soap up, begged for toiletries, no towel animals, steward very unfriendly...room was "tired"
Easy walking ...stopped 2 times so been there, done that!
Barcelona is easily walkable and very easy going. Not many wifi areas however. The last time we did a tour so if this is the first visit, take a tour.
We took a shuttle bus to the city center and walked...it is an easy place to navigate and relaxing. We have been there before. Lots of open markets and shopping. They use KUNA there but accept Euro's
we just walked and it was great!
Hired Rome Cabs to take us to the port and pick us up. It was totally door to door service and VERY reasonable!
