This was a 1st cruise for us. We are in our 40s and our kids (8 of them) are slowly leaving the house 1 by 1. We have 1 left and she is a senior this year. My DH does not like to travel. He is an introvert. He hates to fly, has a bad back and driving for extended periods is uncomfortable for him.
We went in to get a haircut together in August 2015 and our hairdresser mentioned she and her husband were going on a cruise. After telling us about it, she invited us to come along. My DH said YES! Well, you didn’t have to tell me twice! I’m an extrovert and love to travel! We got her information and looked it up online when we got home. A balcony suite on Deck 8 in the middle. We called Carnival and booked a 7 day cruise from Port Canaveral on the Valor.
I am a researcher of things that interest me, so I started looking for cruise information. I talked to my parents, who are avid cruisers (never thought to ask why they never invited us). We purchased Faster to the Fun! This is very much worth the $49 to get priority embarkation, debarkation and on/off the boat faster for shore excusions. Having no idea what to expect, we over packed. Got the sea sickness patch, JIC.
Balcony cabin midship. We spent a lot of time lounging on the balcony and really enjoyed it. If you opt for a balcony, we definitely recommend ordering room service in the morning, or getting up early and getting breakfast from the Lido deck and bringing it back to the room and enjoying your breakfast on the balcony while you watch the sunrise!
