This cruise was in celebration of my husband's 69th birthday and 60th anniversary of his family immigrating from the region. From the moment we arrived at the Frankfurt arrival airport the Viking staff who met us were friendly and efficient in getting our luggage to the bus that took guests to the Longship Viking Var, and introducing us the the best vacation we have had in years!

The cabin accommodations were outstanding and there was nothing that the cabin staff couldn't for you. Meals were the incredible and served by delightful folks who were always looking for more they could bring you to eat or drink. The shore excursions were guided by local people who answered every question with knowledge. We especially enjoyed the personal listening devices each guest wore so that one could wander at each venue without losing the guide;s message or the group. One highlight we especially loved was attending a Viking special performance at the Vienna Opera House where we were entertained by professional opera singers and we waltzed together to the Blue Danube Waltz!

When we made our reservations we were a little concerned that the ship did not have an exercise facility, but with all the shore excursions we took, walking the cobblestone streets everyday and dancing on board one night to local music, neither of us gained an ounce and we ate like royalty each day and night! Our airline flights, arranged by Viking, were perfect and without any problems. We enjoyed every minute of our trip and were sad when it ended in Budapest. We are already planning on another cruise with Viking and bringing another couple as soon as we can agree on which cruise to take in 2018!

Cabin Review

Veranda Stateroom

Cabin B

Compact, but plenty large enough to stretch out and relax in the room and on the veranda. With the large glass doors we could view the countryside from inside or outside as we cruised by. Plenty of storage space for all our clothing, including jackets as it was chilly a few days during our trip. The underbed storage for the suitcases was wonderful!

Port Reviews

Nuremberg

Sobering visit the the Nuremberg Trial courthouse and parade grounds used by Hitler, but a wonderful reminder of history.

Regensburg

Walked cobblestone streets enjoying local food and the sights of ancient buildings.
