We had a broad exposure to the history and archeological gems of France and were able to visit many local communities along the Rhone River. Food was terrific. We had local specialties as we're cruised through the country as well as regular fare which was superb. The ship was clean and staff were attentive to our needs. Exceptional staff, especially in the dining room. The waiters got to know us and worked hard to ensure we had a wonderful experience. The excursions were many and varied I particularly enjoyed the Van Gogh tour and painting class in Arles. The tour guides were extremely informative, friendly and spoke very goo English, which was important to me as I wear hearing aids and have difficulty understanding heavy accents.

This was our first river cruise and I would recommend it highly to anyone. Our return flight to Canada was a disaster however, as Air France provided deplorable service. This was the airline chosen by Viking as part of its package and could have spoiled the entire trip if we let it. We felt abandoned by Viking at this stage after being so well cared for beforehand. To repeat however, the cruise itself was a truly memorable experience.
