Several couples were talking and came up with the idea of a river cruise in Europe. Viking was the preferred line and proved to be the best.
A true 5 Star Hotel & Restaurant rolled into one that moved from Budapest to Amsterdam with plenty of sights & side trips to entertain and keep us in awe.
This was a trip that gave us the most bang for our bucks... and truly relaxing.
On a cruise the cabin is generally used only for sleeping, but this cabin had amenities that allowed for relaxation with HD TV, internet access and superior comfort bed. Plenty of storage space for a 15 day cruise (especially the under bed space for suitcase storage). Every inch of space was used with comfort & convenience in mind.
This is an excursion where I broke from the pack and explored on my own. The town square held a plethora of local shops and farmers market. Found an outstanding tobacco shop where I enjoyed a very fine smoke of a Cuban Partagas cigar along with a touch (or two) of Jamison's Irish whiskey. Took great delight in enjoying the local cuisine of brats and sauerkraut with the local beer(s) while learning from the locals of the historic importance of the town.
Enjoyed just strolling through the streets, stopping to talk and chat with some of the friendliest people in Europe.
