We were warmly welcomed to the Journey and after such a long flight we were very happy to find the all the comforts of home and the pleasing improvements recently made to the staterooms.
We settled in for our 13 day adventure and the first order of business was some rest.
Unfortunately due to severe storms and flooding we were advised by Captain Magnus that were were not able to call out on Ko Samui which was disappointing but we felt appreciative of the direct communication and information made available to us that we knew it was the right decision, definitely one difference between the small ship and larger ship. We were able to catch up on sleep during what turned out to be some rough seas during the first couple of days.
The ports of this initinerary were all fascinating and the fact that we were able to sail up the Saigon River and into the heart of the city was the main reason we chose Azamara for this part of the world. Sailng past life on the river was memorable, and the fact that each port was so accessible due to the complimentary shuttles was appreciated. In contrast to the major cruise lines who nickle and dime with the necessity overpriced shuttles.
The Azamazing evening was spectacular and the care taken to ensure a positive guest experience was appreciated.
We really enjoyed the Vietnamese ports which were colourful, frentically paced and offered some wonderful excursions. We booked all our excursions through the ship and shore excursion staff very helpful in suggestions for the tour we booked when we disembarked at Hong Kong. Azamara offers an excellent tour of the highlights where they store your luggage and end with dropoffs at either hotels or Airport. We found this to be an excellent alternative for our first ever visit to Hong Kong. Our guide Wing was incredible.
The dining room, buffet and all food was exceptional. We enjoyed all meals and the wine flowed during lunches and dinners..it was wonderful.
This was our 6th cruise with Azamara and we have to note that they keep on getting better and better. When they say Welcome Home, they mean it....there were many times throughout the trip were were acknowledged in special ways either by personal greetings or special brunch or cocktail events.
i guess our only complaint during our holiday would be the less than cooperative weather, but it didn't stop us from enjoying this exotic destination.
WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND AZAMARA....and look forward to being spoiled on another cruise in the near future.
Although a bit smaller than Celebrity, it is comfortable and welll located. Very quiet.
