We traveled the Western Galápagos Islands with 26 other highly educated and well traveled guests. Most people were pretty fit seniors with one 12 year old and five under 35. The two Ecuadorian-naturalists, Gustavo and Alex, and doctor, Isaac, on board were outstanding. The 15 other staff members lead by Cruise Director, Steve, did equally well at their multiple tasks. The cruise had a nice balance of nature hikes, snorkeling, educational talks, and rest/relaxation periods. The meals and pre-dinner appetizers were exceptional. We always had a choice of fish or beef at dinner for the entree. We had a cooking demonstration one afternoon.

In general, the waters were very smooth throughout our trip. Bring double the amount of sunscreen, backup batteries and memory for your camera,and a broad-brimmed hat and light clothing for the hot hikes. Dress on board was always casual. Each evening, we received a very detailed explanation of what to expect the next day. The early morning wakeup music and call to rise are memorable.

There is no TV and no Wi-Fi...get away from it all! The good sized cabins are being refurnished in August (2017). The snorkeling equipment and wetsuits (needed) were fine. 95% of the Galápagos Islands is a national park and the people are very protective of their beautiful resource. Purified water is readily available on the boat. I'd recommend keeping tab of your alcoholic drinks as there are no receipts issued but a bill at the end of the cruise.
