We chose this cruise because of the length, cost, and it was visiting ports we hadn't been to before. We hadn't cruised with Carnival before but it seemed to still be family friendly. We were traveling with Grandma and our 3 kids ages 4,7, and 9. We chose 8 days because our last cruise (5 days was too short). We wanted to enjoy the relaxed pace of sea days (sleeping in/room service) and the ships amenities and see new places and get off the ship. The cost of this cruise of 8 days with Carnival was less than what it cost us to go on a 4 day Disney cruise. It fit our budget. Our last cruise also sailed from Port Canaveral so we were familiar with what it would take to get there.

We flew into Orland the night before, stayed near the airport, and then took a Mears Van to the Port. The Port was INSANELY busy when we arrived and it took 45 minutes to make it to the correct area from the exit to the drop off area. Allow for extra time and if you are driving yourself view maps online before you go to avoid driving the wrong way. There were 4 ships docked and departing the same afternoon so it was busy.

When we were dropped off we were dropped next to some luggage carts where a porter made sure our bags were tagged and then pointed us in the direction of the terminal. The terminal is confusing and we went the wrong way several times before getting to the right place. Signage could be better. We needed to take the elevator because grandma couldn't walk up the ramps to the terminal floor. The signage in the elevator was terrible and we got off twice on the wrong floor.

Cabin 8A

Our cabin 6138 was ok. Grandma was in 6134 and they were almost identical. It was worn (dings/smudges), smudges on the curtain, drawers didn't slide easily, closet doors didn't shut properly, the furniture was worn. First impression was disappointing. This room IS ABOVE the Liquid Lounge. This means you will feel like you are in the club after 10pm until after 2 am on some nights. You can feel the base and it is not pleasant. As a family who didn't want to stay up all night this was not ok.

The design of the room is good. There is ample closest/drawer/cupboard space and even space under the bed for suitcases. Bring an over the door organizer for the back of the bathroom door. This saved my sanity! Everything had a place. The bathroom is tiny and only one person can be in there at a time.
