We did the "Images of a Golden Land" cruise from Bagan to Mandalay on the "Road to Mandalay".
The 4 days cruise on the Irrawaddy River was a truly memorable experience. The accommodation, restaurant, bars and common areas are all immaculate as is the food and level of service and the informative talks and quality entertainment much appreciated. 1st class throughout!
The schedule of sightseeing was well considered and small groups ensured a very personal experience. Our guide Yi Mon did an excellent job.
Top marks to Manager Steve Lock for running a tight ship!
We had 2 nights in the Governors Residence in Yangon prior to the Cruise and the only thing I wish we had done different is to have had an extra night or two there, as we didn't really have enough time in Yangon. After disembarkation we chose to continue our travels from Mandalay Airport as it was more convenient than to return to Yangon.
We are planning to return for a cruise on the Orcaella.
Our cabin was very nice with good amenities provided. For a short trip it was adequate in size (approx 18m2/192 sq ft) but with hindsight I wish I had booked a larger cabin. The State cabins are 23m2/250sq ft - so something to bear in mind specially if embarking on a longer cruise.
