First of all this was our second Valentines Day week cruise, and I have come to the conclusion that it is a bad week to go. The cruise was a good price and the 3rd passenger was free and 4th half fare or something such, so ship was fully booked. Embarkation smooth. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have a happy anniversary sign on our door like so many others, I had put the information in the cruise personaliser.

My biggest issue, was we were offered an upgrade from inside to partially obstructed oceanview. We liked the room, but were surprised one day when we were taking a nap that there was someone working in the lifeboat right outside our window. We were not clothed and were not notified that anywone would be outside our window. We didn't know how he got there, must have repelled. They were outside our windows 3 days out of 7!

Another issue was room porter that knocked and disturbed us twice when the do not disturb sign was in the door.

Someone at the customer service desk that could not answer the question, what is the sea temperature at the next port (we were supposed to snorkel)

Food at Horizon Court was poor overall especailly for breakfst. I think they may have cut corners because of bargains they offered.

We had a bad experience in 5:30 dining we showed up and there were no chairs at our table, it wasn't set and the tablecloth was dirty. We ate at specialty dining 6 out of 7 nights, Share by Curtis Stone was great, Crown Grill needs a few more staff members, the servers litterally have to run, but food was great. Gastropub also great service and good food for only $12 pp.

Excursions: Whale Watching in Puerta Vallarta was amazing but PLEASE don't do the Zodiac if you have back issues or don't like roller coasters. The resort visit and shopping in Mazatlan was fun. In Cabo Princess overbooked our snorking exercursion by 8 people, so we volunteered to not go, and we took at glass bottom boat ride for $20 pp and that was fun and nice since water temp was only 70 degrees F.

This was the only cruise out of seven cruises that we ever saw staff slacking off on several occasions, we would have ordered drinks but the persons who were supposed to be waiting the tables were just standing in corners.

The bed was so comfortable and the steward was good cleaning, other ships have had towel sculptures which I alway enjoy, but not Ruby Princess. Even though the ship was fully booked there were enough activities so that we didn't see crowds too much anywhere at any time.

I loved the idea of the movies under the stars it was fun and cozy with the blankets and popcorn. The big screen was really poor, there were dead pixels so there were bright colored dots scattered across the screen that reminde me of our picture quality in the 70's.

We did not get the all inclusive drink package and it turned out to be a good choice since drinks for two came to $250 for the week instead of trying to get our money's worth and driniking too much we just had what we really wanted. There is happy hour, 2 for 1 but then you get two of the exact same drinks brought at the exact same moment.

Disembarkation was smooth and Princess transportation was well managed.

Cabin Review

Oceanview (obstructed view)
Cabin OV E603

Clean, roomier than inside. Bed super comfy. TV way too small and not great selections of what to watch, brough an IPAD with movies to watch.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

Whale Watching

Bumpy is putting it mildly not for people with back issues or who don't like speed or roller coasters, and who can't be away from a bathroom for 3 hours. Amazing views of humpbacks, very close to them.

Fun shopping in town, good tour operators, pretty beach.

Princess overbooked excursion by 8 people we volunteered not to go and took a glass bottom boat tour on our own anyway. Time in port too short because we didn't get off the ship till 10 and had to be back by 12:30, so it was unfortunate that we didn't know the excursion was overbooked till we got there, the ship docked at 6:30 we waited for our time to tender off for the excursion.

LAX hasn't changed much in 30 years, my least favorite airport. The collection of people to bus to port could have run more smoothly.
