We chose this cruise to celebrate our 40th anniversary. We had wanted to travel to Hawaii for a very long time. We felt that taking this cruise to see each of the four islands would be the perfect way to enjoy Hawaii. I must admit that my husband and I are not true cruisers. We took an NCL cruise to Alaska two years ago, and enjoyed the experience as our first cruise. This cruise was also very enjoyable, but I do not like being on open water for an extended time, and the crowds do get to us after awhile. That is the blessing of this cruise. We actually used the ship as our hotel, and were able to unpack once for the week, and then we were off of the ship each day while in port.

The organization of any cruise ship just boggles my mind. They definitely have it down to a science. Our embarkation was very easy. The only problem that we had was that we embarked during a torrential rainstorm. Although, we were luckier than many, as it got worse after we made it onboard. We took a shuttle from our hotel in Honolulu, where we had stayed for three previous days. I definitely recommend coming in ahead of time, if possible, just to get acclimated to the time change, and to be able to enjoy the sights of Oahu. We loved Honolulu! We followed the signs at the terminal, and all of the personnel were more than willing to answer any questions you might have. We had the cruise tags already attached to our luggage, and sailed through security. Once on board, we headed for the Skyline Restaurant for lunch.

Upon finishing our lunch, we went exploring on the ship. As it was still raining, the pool area was not really accessible. We were very much impressed with the upgrade that NCL had done to this ship in 2016. Everything was very nice and very comparable to the ship we were on in Alaska. Our cabin seemed a wee bit larger than the one we had on the Alaska cruise. We had chosen a balcony cabin on the port side, midship on the 8th deck. One thing I will say about this...I had read that a port side room was definitely the way to go to see the Napalli coast on the last day of the cruise as you are leaving Kauai. To that point, this is true. However, for the rest of the week, a room on the other side would have been much nicer. When you come into the ports, all you see on the port side are the warehouses where you are docked. If I was doing anything differently, I would choose a room on the starboard side.

This was a very nice cabin, and pretty close to everything by being mid-ship.
