We have loved the Viking River Cruises that we took in Russia and the rest or Europe and decided to see if the Ocean Cruises could come close; Viking sure came though in the ocean also. From roomy staterooms to fantastic meals, everything was just what we expected! All staterooms are for two people - NO extra beds (nope no kids).

When we made our reservation, we put in for a DV-6 Guarantee because all of the Staterooms on the Viking Star were Balconies so what could go wrong. The worst cabin was looking great. Finally, a few weeks, well two months prior to sailing, we received our room assignment Stateroom 8000. I knew this had to be a mistake since it was a Penthouse Junior Suite, but it was correct. This suite includes a mini fridge stocked with mini booze and sodas, pus a welcome bottle of champagne. Laundry is free in this suite and there are washers and dryers available free for everyone.

Meals were up to our expectations and The Table and Manfreid's were well worth the effort of going there. The Table serves a set menu with wine pairing (well worth getting the upgraded wines) and each course is and adventure. I dislike Lamb, but the way they served it was delicious. Manfreid's is an Italian themed dining experience, however, they also served the best, rib eye ever! One of the not to be missed events IMHO is the daily TEA. It is open to everyone so do it at least once. Just aft of the Explorer's Lounge on Deck 7 is Mamsen's, a "sandwich shop." If you consider Waffles, soups and wonderfully crafted sandwiches JUST a sandwich shop.
