This will be lengthy but I just have to "vent". We were in the terminal almost ready for customs. Carnival personnel informed us we had to step aside and have our liquor bottles stamped. We had already read that we were entitled to one bottle of wine each in our carry on. My husband and I each had one. People ahead of us had wine and some soft drinks. The wine and soft drinks were all confiscated and we were told they would be returned to us at the end of the cruise. We all went to Guest Services and were told they would be returned to our rooms in a couple of days. This was not acceptable to any of us. In the end the confiscated items were delivered to our cabins the next afternoon.

Then the food was inedible to say the least. My husband and I did not enjoy it at all. The best my husband had was meat loaf in the dining room, I tried the frog legs and mahi mahi and it was all terrible. We tried eating in the Lido and the food had no flavor a lot of the food was greasy and the staff removed the dishes and cutlery from the tables but did not wipe the tables down. Sometimes the messy tables sat for 45 minutes before they were wiped. My husband also unwrapped his cutlery, opened the napkin and realized the napkin had dried mustard on it. I do have a picture of the napkin but haven't printed it. The staff in the Lido were pretty slack at times. They just didn't appear to be enjoying their jobs at all. There were very pushy Oriental people who would rather run you down and get in front than wait their turn. Children were so misbehaved it was terrible, one child was rolling around on the floor in the Lido and yelling.

There is nowhere to escape the noise on this ship except in the Serenity Bar and Pool which in cold weather is rather out of the question. The announcements were so loud as to deafen and we could not understand the Captain's messages as his command of the English language could certainly be improved. This is a scathing review but I feel it justified, my husband and I have cruised with other lines before and been completely satisfied, we should have known better as friends who cruise a lot had warned us up front what to expect. This ship is due for major overhauling as well. So rusty and gaudy in decor.

Cabin Review

Cabin 6A

Our cabin was fine, comfortable beds etc. We had no complaints about the cabin or the service in the cabin. Also the dining room staff were very good, David was our server and he did a great job. It isn't their fault that the food they are serving is inferior.
