Chose the ship for the Itinerary and a promise for a luxurious onboard ambiance and enriching destination experience. Nautica did not live up to their promise. For example, while in South Africa (5 ports) it would have been nice to offer a South African wine tasting; offer as a special on the Grand Dining Room menu some African dishes and meats; play a South African movie such as Invictus, Shaka Zulu, etc.; have a lecturer on the history of South Africa; have dockside entertainment such as Zulu and Xhosa dancers and musicians; have an African trivia contest, etc. etc. The same could have and should have been done for each port that we visited. However, nothing was done. We could have been anywhere - there was no attempt at enrichment.

Secondly, we were told the food was amazing – amazing it was not – not bad for the first week but after that it got very boring!!! There was very little change in the menu.

Thirdly, for a 30 day cruise it was sorely lacking in activities. Where was the dancing, zumba classes, lecturers on the countries we were visiting, etc. The entertainment was also sorely lacking and second rate. Although there were some extremely good soloists, ie a flutist, an oboeist, a comedian, etc. but on other ships these would have been the lounge side show entertainment not the main attraction. Further, the main lounge was used to show the occasional (old, old) movie (6 in total) on a house size screen with very bad stale popcorn. The DVD list was out of date – nothing current. Any good movies shown on the TV was finished by 6:00pm. Library didn’t appear to have any popular authors. “Coloring books for adults” didn’t pique my interest and the 6 twenty-five minute line dance class was hardly enough for a 30 day cruise.

A great port of call. Lots of variety of things to do and see and convenient to the ship

located out of town but was a pleasant area for a beach walk
