Just got back from our first river cruise and have to say it was a fantastic experience. Croisi Europe advertises their cruise as "value for the money" and I have to agree that is what they delivered. You can easily pay twice what we did for the exact same trip and excursions. The La Boheme is rated as a four star ship and shows some minor need for cosmetic repairs but overall is very clean, well maintained, comfortable and easy to negotiate. The high point of the time on board for any cruise is the food and we were not disappointed. Lunch and dinner were always a 3 course meal with a wide variety of tastes and textures. Some of the best food I've ever eaten I must say. As expected for a French company the desserts and breads were magnificent, as was the wine. The breakfast buffet at first was a bit of a challenge. One of the groups on board had a different cultural background related to personal space, waiting your turn in line and simple manners which made it easier for us to just wait 20 mins. to arrive at breakfast. It was hard to understand their behavior given everything was refilled as soon as it was needed. The only other negative was we had Japanese, English, Spanish, and French on board and every announcement was made in all four languages at a volume that could not be ignored which took a great deal of time. Most times this was unnecessary given the information was already on the TV and posted in the reception area. Both minor annoyances only. The crew was very friendly and we made friends with the ships maintenance leader who showed us the engine room and other "guy things" the we would never have been able to see on a large ship. I even got to talk with the captain and ask a few nautical questions. When not serving the passengers the crew was always cleaning or tidying up the ship. We only speak English but this was never a problem, and a few times a bit of fun. The excursions were done well but for me a bit repetitive by the end as one castle looks the same as the other and the gold in one church is as disturbing and the next. But the views were breath taking to be sure. A word of caution, most of the excursions are for those reasonably fit. There is lots of climbing stairs and steep slopes, but getting to the top is well worth it. We have taken 6 cruises, all on the ocean, but none of them have provided the level of fond memories this river cruise has. I would certainly recommend this cruise for anyone that doesn't need the glitz of Viking or Tauck. You will get 100% of the experience at

Cabin Main Deck

Small but a place for everything. Room was sufficiently maintained each day and clean.
