We did this cruise as a previous Princess cruise around New Zealand missed 4 ports and offered a discount and on boards credits on a future cruise. Although weather cant be controlled, two missed ports on this trip was disappointing, only to be compensated $10 missed port credit, just enough for a mixed drink in the bar.....
Embarkation was pretty easy, the only strange piece was the wheelchair bound passenger who was whisked past onto the boat who was vomiting into a towel which seems at odds with the required health declaration. Once on board it was of to the room. Enjoying a champagne from our balcony was pleasant looking over the Opera House. Our first interaction with our room steward was when he knocked on the door to tell us that we would now be at sea until Thursday due to two cancelled ports. That was disappointing but unavoidable. What was avoidable was the five hour wait for our bags to arrive at the room. Having been on the road since 5am, a change of clothes was required before dinner. The staff had to be pushed to confirm that the bags were even on board.
Sun Princess is an old ship showing wear and tear. The balcony room Baha deck was small in comparison to other standard balcony rooms with only seating for one person unless you sat on the bed. Shower was small and storage limited. The bar fridge was more like a pie warmer so no beers in the room. On a positive, the movies on board were extensive and good to watch.
Average, small and lacked storageoptions. The room felt tired and beige. Fridge was poor and didnt make you feel like having dinks in the room.
Lve Sydney, worlds best harbour. Get around The Rocks for a real treat
Nice South Pacific place with friensly locals and some kava bars.
Walked around town......not for the faint hearted....full of dodgy characters
