This was our first time on Britannia and reading the previous reviews I was a bit worried as the "Butlins at Sea" experience is not for me. However, with one or two cheesy exceptions (the sail away parties waving Union Jacks are a bit much) - it was fine. Embarkation was easy (although busy) and getting on board was fine. Luggage was all waiting in our cabin which was a good start as I like to unpack properly before doing any exploring. The cabin itself was small but perfectly formed. The bathroom was also small but it was fine no issues here. The decor was to my taste throughout the ship. Modern and tasteful, very nice. I have cruised a lot on different types of ships but have a preference for Silver Seas as I like the smaller ships. This was a first cruise for some family members so that is why we chose Britannia (cost and itinerary for them). We chose to eat at 8.30pm and were allocated the Oriental restaurant as the main dining area. It was very nice, food good and service was fine. We also ate at most of the other restaurants including Sindu and Epicurian both were excellent and well worth the supplement. I like the formal evenings when people made an effort to dress up. The Horizon cafe was a bit crowded at times but all of the food on offer was of a very high standard. The staff seemed genuinely happy and I did not see any staff who "wished that there were not there". The trip to Norway was great - I loved Stravanger and the weather was good up until we hit Bergen, when it poured down. Overall I would say a really good experience on Britannia - lovely bars everywhere - in particular the Crows Nest and everywhere very clean too. If you are thinking about booking a cruise on her I would say "go for it" - we enjoyed ourselves and would go again.
The cabin was clean and overall good. Small balcony but enough room for two chairs and a table - perfectly acceptable. Good range of films on the TV and good "ships" radio with a nice choice of music. The bathroom was small but it was OK - I have two small gripes. One the water pressure in the shower is quite light (I am used to a good power shower at home) however it was fine for the week, but I think that they should do something about this. The other thing was the bed linen which was not changed and should have been changed at least twice within our cruising time. The towels however were changed twice a day if you wanted them to be.
No issues with embarkation or disembarking either - Southampton port is a well oiled machine without a doubt
Did a Fjord sightseeing trip - was lovely and the views were stunning
