Embarkation at Southampton was well organised and less time consuming than expected - much less hassle than any airport! Entry to the ship brings one into the Grand Lobby and there are well placed deck guides , good stairways, and elegant lifts to ensure smooth navigation to one's room.
We were on Deck 8, above the Promenade Deck, with unobstructed view. Suitcases arrived promptly and the cabin was clean, comfortable and smart; with good storage and an excellent bed.
First sitting in Britannia proved the ideal choice for us - as we wanted to make the most of the ship and were not fussed about late night entertainments. We chose a table of 8 and found ourselves in convivial company - from Texas, Washington and the UK. Our waiters looked after us well and there were no disappointments at any meal. Top notch food presented well night after night!
Excellent position - we had plumped for midships sheltered balcony as I was concerned about sea-sickness but had no problem on Deck 8 despite 5 metre swell!
The beds are huge, the pillows divine and the furnishings smart
Having a curtained shower caused no problem, water always hot when needed, and toilet flushed fine.
Turn down service and a little chocolate at bedtime proved unobtrusively delightful.
