The ship was nice but we paid for an upgrade to a penthouse veranda and were not told that our room had an obstructed view, not nice. The food is ok but no better than princess or holland america and not as good as oceania or seabourn. Deserts are all terrible and fall into the category of "unknowm slimy slop" and tasteless cookies using the same flavorless dough (othe cruisers agre dt hat Costco cookies were better, and those Are just passable, Viking's are worse. They even made gellato that was chemcal tasting and horrible. How does on wreck gellato? It was so bad I passed it around the table and the "strawberry" tasted like a cross between raspberry and cherry kool aid with an antifreeze chaser. Main restaurant food was ok but the self serve restaurant was below standard with the same items day in and day out, except for the mfood at carving area which rotated fod types nicely. Food from the speciaty restaurants was spotty with the signature Chef's Table seving a room temperature entre on a very hot plate - the food must have sat out for hours as i could not stop burping and shxxing due to the bacteria in the food - not safe food handling. I will also add that we were not met at the airport by Viking and 11 of use were left to fend for ourselves. When we called th ship from london heathrow to get help we were repeatedly hung up on or told "We're too busy to help you". Took 7 hours to get to the ship. No appology and it took 5 days, several meetings, and lots of phone calls to just get a refund of our transfer payments, and that is still pending.

I've been on three Viking river cruises and this one ocean cruise. I will never do another Viking ocean cruise. There are much better cruise lines - why put up with this low level of service and poor Low-end quality food, bad service, and incompetent staff? Every othe cruise line i've been on in 30 years, cheap and high end, has been better than this.

Cabin Review

Cabin Penthouse veranda

Nice use of space but this cabin and some other cabins have very obstructed views due to structural elements that are 4 feet wide and in the mddle of the window, so the view out from the room is negligible. Even when the d apes are fully drawn the room for smdark and you cannot see out because the little window soace thatremauns is blocked by the drapes themselves. This would b OK if it was DISCLOSED BEFOREHAND AND THE ROOMS DISCOUNTED.
