To put my review in perspective, I took my first cruise as an adult on the Volendam for my honeymoon in 1973. I have been fortunate enough to be on such ships as the Norway (formerly the USS France) as well ships ranging from Royal Caribbean, Holland American Celebrity and Silver Seas. It has been my perspective that ships in the Carnival family always fall a little bit short of expectations. I sailed on the Pacific Princess in June of 2017 from Florida to Dover England with 3 stops in Iceland. I had never been on Princess but took this cruise because of the small size of the ship and its itinerary. It was very disappointing.

The ship is like an old grand hotel whose days of glory are over. Even though the ship had just come out of dry dock there was a lot of deferred maintenance.

I became wary when after entering my cabin I discovered a used bar of soap in the shower, a missing television remote and a 2x2 wet spot on the carpet that took a day to dry using a blower.

Cabin BB

There were empty screw holes in the wall of my cabin and the waste can in the bathroom was completely chipped. I submitted a "how are we doing review" They did nothing until one day I said to the hotel manager "do you respond to reviews." They fixed things that morning
