We consider ourselves veteran cruisers by now as we have cruised every year for 10 years. This Escape cruise was our 7th with Norwegian. We were excited to try out one of Norwegian's newest ships as we have sailed on many of Norwegian's older ships and wanted to experience all the latest innovations. As I will explain below, the latest ship concept or design does not necessarily mean an improvement over the tried and true traditional cruise experience. The Escape has some hits and misses with the new designs, unfortunately the misses are pretty striking.

Embarkation

The port was Miami and uber was a better deal than taxis than to the port from downtown. Only about $12 for 5 of us with lots of bags. There was a long line for security at 11:00 am and it took about a half hour to pass through. After security, there was another very long line to check in. Being a latitudes member I had to ask if there was a dedicated check in as there was no obvious markings pointing the way. We were led directly to a section with no line and check in was quick.

Cabin Review

Family Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin M3

Our family mini suite was fine and standard for the class of room. The bathroom was large with a full size tub/shower . The bed was comfortable.no outlets next to bed on a brand new ship? We had to string extension cords across the room from the desk area to power items next to our beds. And why does the Escape need a key card slot to power the room lights and outlets? How much diesel fuel is this actually saving? I presume NCL is using fire safety as an excuse as they are now commanding room stewards to unplug everything in your stateroom to prevent fires.

Port Reviews

St. Thomas

Took a cab to Red Hook, then a ferry to St John. Visited Trunk Bay for beach and snorkel.

Tortola

Took a cab to Brewers Bay beach. Beautiful beach and nice snorkeling reef.

Nassau

Took a cab to Cabbage Beach. Walk to the right to avoid the crowds.
