bargain cruise especially as i did my own flights, used ncl transfers which were ok going to the ship from the airport but in future i would get a taxi from ship to airport as the ncl transfer is far too early and we spent over 5 hours at the airport
the spirit is an old ship, originally the leo superstar launched in 1998 BUT don't let that put you off, it is a quality ship, excellent design and plenty of room - the prom deck is 5 yards wide and there was virtually no queues for the lifts, it oozed quality from the carpets to the outside deck lighting
we had an inside - enough room, very spacious shower and enough hanging and storage

Barcelona
used the ship shuttle 15 euro, barcelona is a great place worth visiting lots to see but beware of pickpockets do not take more than you need to
Corsica (Ajaccio)
marseilles was cancelled due to bad weather so we went to corsica, i like corsica and we walked off and wandered,
Florence (Livorno)
walk off the ship and take a mini van 8 seater, 320 euros for the van so 320 divided by 8 equals 40 each, they take you to florence and then to pisa or whatever you want and back to the ship very good
the interesting bits in florence are very central and can easily be walked around you will be dropped off in the centre and picked up again at your convenience, pisa has its tower and cathedral and well worth a visit
Rome (Civitavecchia)
chose not to go to rome but walked around civitavechia instead, nice place, rome tours are not cheap but it might be best to go with ncl, i have done the train before and it was ok but strikes are not uncommon and rome is not easy by yourself
Naples
walked off the ship and wandered around naples, if want to do pompei i would take the ncl coach and do pompei yourself for cheapness or do the full tour with ncl, it is a big place and can be very tiring - DO NOT take the local taxis - they can be your best friend at the port offering to take you anywhere but can be not so nice when they have you in the taxi, may be i was just unlucky with the taxis but 2 out of 2 experiences is enough to put me off
Palma de Mallorca (Majorca)
