The biggest question mark about booking this cruise is whether you like group excursions or not. You'll be paying for them whether or not you partake because all ports have multiple excursions available at no extra charge. If you don't mind trooping along with 1-3 full coaches or if you are okay skipping them, you're fine and we can move along...

Crystal's Mozart was a surprise on first, second and every subsequent glance.

At first glance, her lines are a bit dated and utilitarian. Definitely not the sleek looks of competing ships from AMA, Avalon, Tauck ... (Viking ships are pretty utilitarian as well).

Cabin Review

Cabin Swan

The cabin is tastefully and crisply decorated with a King bed, love seat, writing desk (with refrigerator, wines and coffee maker), 2 closets with one being full length and the other having a built-in 3 drawer dresser on the bottom half along with a large safe. The bathroom is roomy with a large standup shower, single sink vanity and a toilet fitted with an electronic Toto toilet seat. Electronics include an iPad central control for room settings, butler services and control of the large wall mount TV.

The preceding room description is in spite of the truth that 106 is one of the worst cabins on the ship based on pricing, availability and location. Being all the way forward, the side thrusters are noisy when used and they are used throughout the night everyone the ship enters a lock or docks. The noise can be startling when used full force (1 time the entire trip).

In addition to the thruster noise, bright running lights just outside the cabin windows are on all night when underway. Blackout curtains handle this problem but don't expect night views nor, as with all lowest deck accommodations, can you let breezes flow through the room while you sleep.

Those negatives included, 106 is a very comfortable cabin that I would not hesitate to rebook in future.
