This was a fabulous trip for my husband and I. Celebrity Solstice is a very elegant ship. I prefer Celebrity over Carnival for an adult experience. (Carnival cruises seem more kid friendly and family oriented). Very lovely room with balcony that we spent plenty of time enjoying. Excellent food. Select dining in the main dining area worked excellently for us as a party of 2 (as opposed to a scheduled time) but then you do miss out on having same wait staff for the week (which is nice as they get to know you and you them). The service on a few nights was a little slow but we were not generally in a hurry. Ship's captain, Captain Tasos was informative, knowledgeable and VERY ENTERTAINING with a fantastic sense of humor. Friendly bar staff. Wonderful excursions: Bering Sea Fishing in Ketchikan, Alaska Brewing Co tour in Juneau, White Rail Scenic Pass (Railway) in Skagway and Butchart Gardens in Victoria, BC, Canada. My only complaint? Not enough photos being taken around dinner time, when my husband and I were dressed nicely.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

1. Room with a BALCONY, BALCONY, BALCONY. No other way to do this cruise. More than worth the extra $!

Balcony room. No other way to do this cruise. More than worth the extra $!

A room with a balcony affords you the opportunity to witness breathtaking views from the privacy of your own room instead of having to battle hundreds of others at the crack of dawn on the decks of the ship!

Seattle

Spent an entire day around Mt Rainer--traveling the scenic byways. So many exceptionally nice and helpful staff at visitor's centers to assist with planning your day and making the most of it.

Spent an entire day downtown, at Pike's Place Market, ate dinner on the pier.

Juneau

Took the Alaskan Brewery tour. Took us out beyond the uptown/downtown area and the tour guide was incredible. Again, authentic and genuine enthusiasm. The people who gave tours seemed to do so because they enjoy sharing their passion for what they do--not just to "put on a show" or make us, the tourists, happy!!!!
