We decided to take the trip on the Nautica vs. other cruise lines visiting Norway because it included a trip over the top of Norway into the Barents Sea and the White Sea, with port stops in Murmansk, Arkhangelsk and the Solovetsky Islands in Russia.

We stayed overnight in Copenhagen the night before embarkation. It was cool and raining the day we arrived, but bright and sunny on our departure. We stayed in the Square hotel near Tivoli Gardens. That area in Copenhagen is very touristy and expensive.

The trip started with a very easy embarkation in the ship's lounge in Copenhagen, since the ship didn't dock at a cruise terminal but instead was at the Langelinie Pier. We missed our first stop in Alesund due to high winds, but made all of our other ports (Trondheim, Hammerfest, Murmansk, Solovetsky Islands, Archangel, Hannigsvag and North Cape, Kristiansand, Hellesylt and Geiranger fjord, Bergen, Amsterdam, Brugges). Hellesylt and the Geiranger fjord were striking in their native beauty, and Begen, Amsterdam and Brugges were all wonderful cities to visit.
