This was our first Viking River Cruise (Rhine Getaway) and someone else in our group chose the itinerary and dates, so we were really just along for the ride--and what a wonderful ride it was! The ship is beautiful & comfortable; the staff is attentive, friendly, and helpful; the service is impeccable. The food and beverage selections were excellent, and I especially appreciated the healthy array of fruits, vegetables, and salads. All of our transfers were handled efficiently. The included daily excursions were excellent, with informative guides and a nice balance between the guided tours and free time to explore. We did not choose to pay for any of the other extra excursions and really felt like we had a co plate trip without the additional costs.

We added the Amsterdam extension at the beginning of our cruise, and it provided a perfect way to recover from jet lag and enjoy the city before we embarked on our cruise. I would highly recommend a Viking River cruise to other travelers who wanted to try this type of tour.
