Review for Europe River Cruise on Viking Hlin

We wanted to experience a river cruise along the Rhine River and to see all the interesting cities along the way. We were not disappointed; the views and shore excursions were spectacular! We did a 2 day pre-cruise in Amsterdam and a 2 day post cruise in Lucerne. Amsterdam is definitely the city of bicycles and Lucerne had spectacular views of the Alps.

Viking personnel gave us a very informative walking tour of Amsterdam and Lucerne. The information provided gave us the opportunity to go out on our own and tour the cities at our leisure. In Amsterdam, we did a canal cruise, visited the Van Gogh and Rijks museums and even had a tour of the infamous "Red Light District". In Lucerne, we visited the glacier museum and took a gondola ride to the top of Mt Stanserhorn (what a view from the top!).

Our cruise along the Rhine was historically very interesting (castles, century old cities, WWII memorials). All the Viking shore excursions were well planned and organized. When arriving back at the boat, the executive chef would give us a special drink or snack as we walked on board. We had access to the crew (including the captain) if we ever a question, comment or concern. The boat and our cabin were keep clean and neat at all times. The food and drinks were excellent. Although there was no "formal" entertainment, Viking provided special "events" that were truly entertaining and relaxing.

Cabin Review

Veranda Stateroom

Cabin B

The cabin may have been small compared to other cabins on ocean cruise ships, but it had space for all our clothes and belongings. Our cabin attendant always kept it clean and neat!
