We selected this cruise with Viking because we have taken a couple of river cruises with them and were extremely happy with all aspects of both journeys leading us to try their ocean cruise. This was not a disappointment in any way and it convinced us to book another future ocean cruise with Viking.
Our Homelands cruise began in Bergen, Norway which was a lovely, charming city and we were very lucky to have a beautiful, sunny couple of days. Bonus!
Embarkation was extremely smooth with a big factor being that the ship was a 930 passenger as opposed to thousands! The same goes for a pleasant disembarkation.
We have no complaints with our cabin, totally satisfied! Bed was very comfortable (& the pillows). It was always kept very clean.
Very good informative film in the visitor's centre along with the centre itself.
Enjoyable walking tour of old town. Privileged to see it for water entry to the city is limited to small ships.
Lovely city, would have loved to spend more time there to be able to pick up the vibe as being one of the happiest places to live in the world!
Gdansk was a total surprise making it one of the highlights of our journey. The old town was a fairyland with it's beautiful buildings and atmosphere. Also fascinating to learn about Amber which is so abundant in this area.
Tallinn was another surprise and highlight. We had a brilliant guide for the walking tour who gave us the sense of a very vibrant, young, progressive community.
I believe it goes without saying that St.Petersburg was the ultimate highlight of the Baltic Cruise. Our two day stay gave us a very good idea and insight to this magnificent city. Everything was grand in scale and beauty. We left there with lots to think about both past and present history and the average persons life in Russia.
Stockholm "the Venice of the north" always a favourite for it's charm.
Could go back again and again and never tire of it.
