The Kimberley sounded an interesting place to visit and to do it by ship seemed a great idea. As we read the details, the trip sounded more and more interesting. We were lucky enough to get a last minute cancellation, and how lucky for us we did!
Our few days in Darwin before the cruise put us into holiday mode. Our first time in Darwin had us wanting to go back again to see more. The half day city tour is fascinating, and well worth the time. We could have spent far more time here, so it's on our list for a revisit at some time.
Arriving at the ship was exciting and bustling. We were greeted by friendly faces, had the much needed coffee and started to meet fellow passengers. The ship looked welcoming for our next 10 days. Everything looked, and was, "ship shape"! Our cabin was spacious and much bigger than I expected. We were quickly able to unpack and get into the swing of things.
The cabin was roomy and there was plenty of space to hand and store clothes. I had been concerned that because we were near the dining room it would be noisy but that was not the case. The only time it seemed noisy was during operation of the anchor at night. This didn't happen very often. I expect it would be quieter on higher decks.
The bathroom had a shower curtain and perhaps this could be changed to a panel in future refurbishments.
