Cruise circumnavigated Iceland. Magellen is a partially refurbished Carnival ship. Passengers mainly elderly Brits and Scots. Artwork in corridors is excellent. Library consists of Carnival passengers' castoffs. Our cabin was small, barely enough room for queen-sized bed, but held contents of two suitcases and two garment bags.

Land support and ship's crew had inadequate contact so were unaware of what the other was doing.. Documents emailed (not mailed) to us two weeks before departure. Land support can't help with departure details or with local transportation. Local buses free in Danish Tórshavn and in Iceland. No transportation offered to Hafnarfjordur, port for Reykjavik--a two-mile walk required.

In Newcastle, we were advised to board a bus that merely circled the port. Next bus took us to local train station and abandoned us in Tynemouth--which we explored and liked..

Cabin Review

Cabin ocean view

Cabin smelled of cigarette smoke unless we closed ceiling vent when cabin quickly overheated.. Cabin was small, barely enough room for queen-sized bed, but held contents of two suitcases and two garment bags. Furniture arranged so one couldn't sit and view TV.
