Cabin: Balcony Classic

This cruise went to all the places we wanted to visit. Our cabin had a balcony and was very clean and comfortable. Our cabin steward Pravin from India was very friendly and efficient. We thought the food was good and in the sit-down restaurant there was a lovely waiter, another Indian called Jackson. In the late afternoon we would usually visit the Bar Marabile where there was another great character, a waiter from the Philippines called Marck. We had a beverage package so we didn't find that we didn't have extra expense from ordering drinks throughout the day.

Our only criticism of Costa is that they sent us a questionnaire after the cruise, they had told us that favourable reviews of excellent staff would improve their chances of promotion. However all the questions were "fill in the dots"and no personal input. All the staff were good but that is why I've mentioned our favourites on this site.

We didn't really take part in activities except for a couple of quizzes in the bar so I can't offer an opinion although the talent show by the crew is apparently very good.

Balcony Classic

Cabin BC

The cabin was tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable. We had a nice view of the sea from our bed.

Port Reviews

Bari

Bari is quite picturesque but there were pushy beggars around. We took a little train excursion for 10 euros. The train was not very comfortable. The tour included a lot of walking and waiting around which wasn't comfortable in the extreme heat + 35 c!

Santorini

Santorini was somewhere I had always wanted to see. It is very pretty but extremely crowded. We were charged outrageous prices to drink at a bar with a sea view. 20 euros for a beer and a fruit juice! To return to the dock there was a queue a mile long at the cable car station so we walked down the cliff path. It took 40 min and was hot and slippery. We could have gone by donkey but I am sorry for the donkeys, they get no water or shade and have to walk up and down the mountain all day long.

Mykonos

We took the shuttle bus into the centre of town for 10 euros p.p., we could have taken a boat for 2 euros. Mykonos was lovely, very pretty and nice people who don't try and rip you off.

Dubrovnik

We changed some money here. It was hard to figure out how much we would need but finally we took about 100 kunas each. We walked around the walls which were very impressive. It was extremely hot but there is shade here and there and also the occasional bar or drinks stall. We had to wait for about 20 minutes in a queue for the shuttle bus back to the boat. There was no shade or anywhere to sit, Costa should have organized that better.
